There is one relationship
you cannot move.
And you are not used to that.

You solve harder problems before ten in the morning than most people meet in a month. But with this one person, none of it works — and it has stopped being a problem you are solving and become a wall you keep walking into.

Before you read anything else

You have already done
everything you know to do.

That is what makes it unbearable. Not the difficulty — you are good at difficulty. What is unbearable is having tried every reasonable thing and watching the situation stay exactly where it was.

And because you are capable everywhere else, the failure feels personal in a way it never does at work.

  • You have communicated.
  • You have explained.
  • You have adjusted.
  • You have given space.
  • You have tried harder.
  • You have tried letting go.

And the relationship is still difficult. The conversation is still impossible.
The same pattern keeps repeating.

The methodology

U-Turn changes
the direction of the enquiry.

When something hurts, frustrates, or refuses to change, the instinct is to look outward. Why is my child behaving like this. Why does my boss treat me this way. Why doesn't my partner understand. We look for the person or the circumstance that needs to change — and we are very good at looking.

The question you have been askingWhy is this happening to me?
The question U-Turn asksWhat is happening within me that keeps producing this?

U-Turn is not self-blame.
It is the return of agency.

This is the objection almost everyone arrives with, and it deserves a straight answer. Turning inward is not an admission that the situation is your fault. It is the recognition that the only position you can actually change is your own — and that changing it is the one move available to you that has never been tried.

The external situation is not the cause.
It is often the evidence.

What that evidence points to is the work itself — and it is not discussed here. It is what the discovery call is for.

Where U-Turn begins

Three relationships.
One U-Turn.

Almost everyone arrives holding one relationship that will not move. It is nearly always one of these three. You may recognise yourself in more than one — the discovery call determines which is actually yours.

Door One

U-Turn Parent

When your child has become angry, distant or disconnected, and nothing you try reaches them.

Whether they are eleven or thirty-five. The age changes what the days look like. It does not change the wall.

Door Two

U-Turn Authority

When authority, recognition or power keeps becoming difficult — above you, or in you.

For accomplished professionals who can do almost anything except be seen, valued and met as they are.

Door Three

U-Turn Relationships

When the same painful dynamic keeps repeating, even when you know better and genuinely want something else.

Different people, different circumstances, and somehow the same place every time.

Fifteen one-hour sessions. There is no time limit and no weekly schedule — the programme is paced in partnership with you, at the rate this work can actually be done.

The full body of work

A pattern rarely stays
in one part of a life.

The relationship you came for is usually where the pattern is loudest, not where it stops. The same position that makes one conversation impossible tends to show up in what you allow yourself to receive, what you can hold once you have it, and who you have learned you must be to keep it.

This is the complete container: one-to-one sessions and group work, opening every area the pattern touches. It goes wider than the entry programme, and it goes deeper.

You may also recognise this

Some things arrive,
and then do not stay.

Not everyone comes for a relationship. Some people come because of a pattern they cannot name — where the thing they worked for arrives and then leaves again, or arrives with a cost attached that takes it straight back.

Money

The number changes and the feeling does not. Or it arrives, and something else arrives right behind it that takes most of it away.

Success

You reach the thing. It does not land. Within a month you are looking at the next one, and the last one has already stopped counting.

Receiving

You can give endlessly. Being given to is harder — help, praise, care, attention all sit awkwardly, and you find ways to return them.

Identity

Who you had to become in order to manage all of it has stopped fitting who you actually are.

Each of these is the same movement as the three doors, in a different part of a life. None of them is an entry point on its own — the discovery call will tell you where yours actually begins.

The foundation

Some of what you carry
was never yours.

Beneath U-Turn sits a simple observation about where a pattern comes from. It is rarely invented by the person living it. It arrives — through a family, through a lineage, through everything that was already in the room before anyone could choose.

They

The generations before

Ancestors whose unfinished business — unresolved relationships, unmet needs, unfulfilled ambitions — continues to live in the family field. With it come the limiting beliefs and self-imposed ceilings that shaped what they believed they were entitled to receive. Unseen, these can influence generation after generation, until someone becomes conscious enough to confront them.

We

The parents who carried it

The generation that inherited those impositions and went on carrying them. They may have struggled, settled, compromised or accepted far less than they needed, without ever knowing why. Their own distress often stays pushed down and normalised — until it becomes visible through a child, and can no longer be ignored.

Me

The one who decides

The individual who must decide whether to remain another voice inside the family We, or become a distinct Me. This is the load-bearing generation: the one willing to face what has been carried, examine it, and take responsibility for transforming it — so that the generations after are released from it.

About

How this work
came to exist.

Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram

Founder · Creator of U-Turn

Dr. Meenakshi Sundaram

For years she was the astrologer parents came to last. They had been to others already — often several, each better known than the one before. They were not looking for a reassuring reading of their child's chart; the previous visits had confirmed well enough that the chart carried real affliction. Some astrologers predicted doom. Others promised that one more ritual, one more remedial measure, would finally do it.

Sometimes those measures worked. Very often they did not. It was that randomness that stopped her — and what she turned to examine was not the charts, and not her own ability, but astrology itself.

The chart revealed the problem with great precision. What it could not do was reveal the solution with anything like the same precision, or say whether a solution existed at all. So she stopped reading astrology as a predictive tool and began reading it as a psychological map — a map of the family field. That is where the answers were.

Alongside all of it she taught English in Rajasthan's government colleges for thirty-six years, from 1984 until 2020 — three and a half decades spent inside institutions, watching how authority and hierarchy actually behave in living systems long before she began working on them with anyone.

Four decades on, her practice brings together astrology, psychology and yogic philosophy into what she calls karmic astro-psychology: an enquiry into how identity, inherited position and the capacity to receive shape what a person actually experiences. Her work centres on parents navigating estrangement from their children, and on individuals meeting persistent difficulty with authority and relationships — the situations where effort alone has stopped producing change.

The work is quiet, and so is its evidence. A few reflections from people who have walked some part of it with Dr. Sundaram.

I used to blame the people and situations around me, always in complaining mode. Afterwards I realised it is not the people, nor the situations. It is only me, and how I see myself from within. She changed the lens of my eyes.Rinkal Pamnani

The newsletter

On midlife, meaning,
and the courage to begin again.

A fortnightly letter from Dr. Sundaram. Each issue carries the same three things and nothing more: one insight to provoke your thinking, one practical tool you can use immediately, and one reflection worth sitting with. Quality over volume, always.

Where it begins

One conversation,
and a name for the pattern.

The discovery call is not a sales call. Dr. Sundaram will listen to the situation, tell you which pattern is operating, and explain the approach that addresses it — whether or not you go any further.

You will leave knowing which pattern is operating and why. That is true even if you never work with us again.

The call is not capped by the clock. It ends when the diagnosis is complete. Once you book, Dr. Sundaram reads your responses personally and someone from Oorja Potentials calls you within 24 hours to schedule.
